Looking to escape the Soutern Utah heat in our area for a bit? Boulder Mountain, the high plateau area to the north of the Circle D Motel is a beautiful option. Doesn't take long to get there, and the higher elevation (7,000 to 11,000 feet) means the area is about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than here. The Boulder Mountain area has dozens of small alpine lakes, many with large fish populations, especially, large brook trout. The largest lake in the area is Blind Lake, which covers 52 acres. While there are numerous roads on the mountain, and some are well maintained, many are rough, very rough, and require four-wheel drive vehicles with high clearance. Keep that in mind when planning a trip to the area.
Boulder Mountain is open year round, although winter storms can cause closures. The mountain is maintained by Dixie National Forest. You can contact them at (435) 826-5400.
